Unique Handpans

Handpan is a musical instrument belonging to the class of idiophones, made of two steel sheets connected to each other, between which a cavity is left, creating the shape of a convex lens. A central note is hammered into the upper part of the Handpan, and seven or eight tone fields – notes – around the middle note. It was the first such instrument that didn’t have cut notes, and it was just very precisely carved in one plane, and tuned in such a way that you could play anything and still sound great.

This unique product originated in Switzerland, its appearance caused an insanely high level of interest, which the manufacturers could not satisfy in any way, since the production volumes were very limited. Thus, more and more people began to appear who tried to make them themselves, many copies appeared, but very rare which instrument could be equal to the original. Now that the popularity of Hand pans is very widespread, with the emergence of a lot of different manufacturers, it is already possible to find quality instruments, but the original inventors and creators of PanArt are trying their best to keep the rights and authenticity of this instrument for themselves, so they are actively fighting against all manufacturers who try to make Hangus, and also do not allow the use of this name, so we see a lot of variations of this instrument, Their appearance, names, materials differ. The original name Hang remains only for PanArt instruments, and the rest of the world calls them Hand Pans.

Range of drums

We have added another unique product to our online store – Sound Nest drums. Moon drums, clangs, Hank drums are the names we have never heard of describing these instruments, and of course, these are no exception, because they are called Sound Sockets! But let’s just stick to the drums of the Moon, because it is the most popular name in Lithuania.

A bit of history! In fact, it is an instrument attributed to tongue percussion and there are quite a few other instruments that could have become the inspiration for the emergence of it, but what is known for sure is that their popularity was due to the appearance of the Hang Drum in the 2000s, which we have already mentioned above, an instrument that fascinated the whole world, but which at that time almost no one could have, it was only available to units, And this only aroused even more interest. Although the Moon’s drums are made in a completely different way, and they are a completely different instrument than the Hang Drums, the similar shape, the way they play, attracted thousands who wanted to get at least one step closer to the Hang and feel what it feels like to play it. Moon drums are also in the category of Hand Pans, because they are played in a similar way, well, and it is also like a metal playing flying saucer.

Now that Hang Drums are becoming more and more accessible, Moon Drums are starting to separate themselves from them and fight for their name in other ways. Huge competition forced some manufacturers to save for the sake of a better price, others inflated prices for the sake of better quality, the choice is large, the variety of shapes and colors is endless, but it is extremely difficult to choose! Well, the goal of Sound Mystery has always been to find the best options so that you don’t have to think and look for a long time to buy. Sound Nest drums are of high quality, sound great, the price is definitely not high, and they are also made in Lithuania! All drums are tuned in the same way, but thanks to the very convenient magnet system, it is very easy to tune them differently. It is a great instrument for anyone, both children and adults, it is easy to play, develops rhythmic and melodic abilities, and the musical instrument itself is very durable and long-lasting.
